Three Kinds of Portrait Session

Children and teenagers. Old enough to want to be taken seriously, or young enough to need bribing with a game. Either way we work at their pace.
Families. Everyone in one frame, plus the pairings you actually want — the siblings, the grandparents, the two of you without the children for once.
Individual portraits. A birthday, a milestone, a new chapter, or no occasion at all. Nothing to do with your job.

How a Portrait Session Works

A conversation first

Who is coming, what you want to end up with on the wall, and anything I should know — a shy eight-year-old, a teenager who hates being photographed, a grandparent who tires easily.

What to wear

I send a short guide before the day. Solid colours, nothing baggy, and clothes people actually feel like themselves in. Bring a second option if you are torn.

The session

Unhurried, and mostly conversation. Children set the pace — we play a bit and photograph a bit. Nobody is told to sit still and smile. Most sessions run 45 to 90 minutes.

Choosing and printing

You get a gallery to choose from, and finished images sized for framing and albums as well as for a phone screen. Most portrait work is delivered the next day.

My child will not sit still. Is that a problem?
No. The best frames usually come out of the moving about rather than the sitting still.
How long does a portrait session take?
45 to 90 minutes, depending on how many people are coming.
What should we wear?
Solid colours, nothing baggy, textures are fine, patterns less so. A full guide is sent after booking.
Studio or on location?
Most portrait work happens in the studio in Princeton, with free parking at the door and one session at a time. I also travel across Central New Jersey.
How soon do we get the photographs?
Next day delivery is typical for portrait work.
